Negation in Aramaic



Negation is expressed with la no/not in Aramaic.


לא
La
No/not

משכוכיתא, את זבנא ית חלבא 
Mashkuhita at zabna yat khalava?
Mashkuhita are you buying milk?


לא ,אנא לא זבנא ית חלבא
La,ana la zavna yat khalava.
No, I'm not buying milk. 


Now if you want to say 'there is not' you must use let (לית)




בביתא לית מיסכא
Be-beta let mishkha.
(In the house there's no oil.)
There's no oil in the house.

בביתא
Be beta
In the house.

מיסכא
Mishka
Oil



לית חלבא
Let khalava.
There's no milk.

חלבא
Khaláva
Milk
